Noise and Vibration

Research activities on vibration and noise topics are carried out with the development of prevision and assessment methodologies, supported by CETENA's experimental tests performed both on board ships and in the Riva Trigoso workshop.

Today, research is mainly focused on three issues:

• development/validation of methodologies to predict vibration and noise associated to propeller cavitation - the activity is carried out jointly by different departments of CETENA (the Hydrodynamics, the Structures & Materials and the Vulnerability & Signatures);
• development/validation of methodologies for radiated noise prediction and assessment;
• development of methods for the active vibration control.
