Manoeuvring Simulations
CETENA has a 20 years experience with manoeuvring simulations; these are carried out in the CETENA's ViSLab (Virtual Ship Laboratory) using CETENA's simulator SAND.
Simulations are performed mostly upon request of harbour designers and Port Authorities to evaluate new port layouts or modifications of existing layouts. Simulations of accidents are also requested to understand the causes of collisions and failed manoeuvres.
In general, studies are focused on:
assessing the limit weather conditions for safe manoeuvring
evaluate wether tugs are necessary for a certain manoeuvre
evaluating whether big ships can manoeuvre into / out of a small harbour
SAND is also used for training programs.
