Virtual Prototyping

Virtual Prototyping can be an important support to the design process as it allows to simulate complex situations and to evaluate design alternatives by comparing their performance in different operational scenarios.

CETENA has carried out quite a number of simulations to support ship design, regarding:

• loading/unloading operations
• dangerous cargo handling
• installation of cabin modules
• rescue boat launching
• helicopter landing

A detailed virtual mock up of a ship bridge has been set upto support Human Factors studies for a naval vessel.
