Two new European Projects for CETENA

Two new European research projects for CETENA will start with the approval of European Commission: MOSAIC and SONIC.

The experience as coordinator for CETENA continues with a new research project, MOSAIC (Materials On board: Steel Advancement and Integrated Composites); the project aims to study the possibility of introducing, on cruise ships (and not only), high-performance steel and composite materials in selected areas of the ship in order to reduce weight and maintenance costs.

Moreover, CETENA will have a significant role in a second research project, SONIC (Suppression Of underwater Noise Induced by Cavitation). This project aims to reduce the noise resulting from cavitation of the propeller; CETENA will deal with the numerical modelling and experimental tests at sea in order to measure the noise radiated from the vessel through the use of a specially designed hydrophones string.
