CETENA S.p.A. - The Italian Ship Research Centre - is a Company of the FINCANTIERI Group dedicated to research and consultancy in the naval and maritime field. It is a Company whose majority shareholder is FINCANTIERI and its minority shareholders are SEAF, T. MARIOTTI, SELEX-ELSAG AND CNR-INSEAN.

Since its foundation in 1962, CETENA has been involved in national and international research activities and has carried out research and consultancy in close collaboration with shipbuilders, shipowners, navies and universities.

 

CETENA works to adapt its services to the needs of individual customers with capacity and versatility in order to integrate its knowledge in the different fields.


CETENA's technical activities consist in supporting customers in many various studies, simulations and experimental activities on board ships and in the Company's Testing Laboratory.

The technical areas of activity are Hydrodynamics, Structures and Materials, Vibrations and Noise, Ship Vulnerability and Signatures, Ergonomics and Human Factors, Virtual Prototyping, Risk Analysis and Process Simulation.

As a Company focused on applied research and consultancy, CETENA's role in Italy is that of a bridge between the Academy and the world of shipbuilding and maritime operations, having a consolidated relationship with the Ministries of Transport, Industry and Research and with the Italian Navy.

 

CETENA is ISO 9001:2008 Quality certified by Registro Italiano Navale for Research and Development in the fields of Shipbuilding and Ship Propulsion, Sea Trials and Information Technology.

CETENA awarded at NIDays 2013
CETENA, along with SITEM, was awarded at NIDays 2013, one of the most significant technological events in Italy, for the implementation of a Structural Monitoring System (Sh.AMAn.) - Advanced Ship Monitoring and Analysis system, installed on FREMM Italian Navy Frigates.
